On 18 May 1969, the first motorcycle Grand Prix to be held in Le Mans was won by Giacomo Agostini. The Italian icon who has fifteen world titles to his name was at the Bugatti this weekend to celebrate the anniversary.

This year’s winner of the Shark Helmets Grand Prix de France is Marc Márquez. At 26, he is on course for icon status himself; he already boasts seven world titles (one in 125cc, one in Moto2 and five in MotoGP).

The 104,020-strong crowd at the Bugatti witnessed Marc Márquez win the top class of MotoGP while his younger brother Alex (Kalex) triumphed in Moto 2. John McPhee (Petronas Sprinta Racing, Honda) was first across the line in Moto3.

Frenchmen Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and Johann Zarco (Red Bull KTM Tech 3) ranked 8th and 13th respectively in the MotoGP class. Quartararo put his name to the fastest lap in the race, on 1:32.355.
