Warming up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans

This year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans doubles up as the final of the FIA World Endurance Championship 2018-19 Super Season and judging by the crowds in the pit lane today, there will be a huge turnout tomorrow for the start of the race at 15:00. Toyota and Aston Martin are already gearing up for the 2020-2021 season, preparing hypercars for the new top tier.

Fans took over the pit lane today, the eve of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, relishing in the opportunity offered by the race organisers to catch a glimpse inside the team garages. The new-look LMP3 prototypes, one from each of the selected constructors - Ligier, Ginetta, Duqueine Engineering and Adess - were on display on the pit straight.

Earlier in the day, at the annual pre-race press conference, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest announced the new hypercar class for the 2020-21 season of the FIA World Endurance Championship. Toyota and Aston Martin wasted no time in declaring their intention to field entries.

Tomorrow, three-time winner of Le Mans Hurley Haywood will be fulfilling the role of Grand Marshal, leading the formation lap before H.S.H. Charlene, Princess of Monaco waves the French flag to signal the start of the race at 15:00. There is one change to the previously announced starting grid: the TDS Racing #29 Oreca 07-Gibson takes first place in the LMP2 field.
