The thronging trackside crowd is just as international and the eagerly-awaited event attracts a worldwide audience of fans who follow the action on television, radio and social media.
All the signs at the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans point to the same thing: motoring. Go-kart track, 24 Hours Museum, paddock, scrutineering zone, campsite, restaurants, race village, Fan Zone, Chapel Corner, funfair... all destinations are synonymous with motoring and celebration. In the run-up to the race, the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans is a festival of motorsport, with tens of thousands of spectators flocking to the track to watch the world-famous race.
This, the 86th edition, is set to be as thrilling as ever. Whatever happens, tomorrow’s result will be a first. We might witness Toyota’s first Le Mans 24 Hours win. We could also see two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso lift the trophy as a Le Mans rookie. Or perhaps an LMP1 non-hybrid could beat a hybrid for the first time or an LMP2 finish ahead of the LMP1s? Who knows? And the winners of LMGTE Pro and Am is anyone’s guess! Be prepared for an exciting time and if it’s anything like last year, a race down to the line!
Enjoy the race!
