24h Le Mans

12/06/18

Here is the official photo of the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans driver line-up!

The 60 cars in next weekend’s race each have a crew of three drivers who take turns at the wheel. The 180 drivers posed today for the official photo of the 86th running of the iconic race.

With the big day fast approaching, the circuit gets busier by the day and the atmosphere will be electric by 15:00 on Saturday. Today, the stars well and truly stepped into the limelight. The 180 drivers lined up on the track in the pit straight this morning all dressed in their team colours. They didn’t take long to assemble in their allotted places and smile for the photographers. The class of 2018 includes ten former winners – Lotterer, Fässler, Dumas, Bernhard, Bamber, Lammers, Rockenfeller, Duval, Tandy and Jani – who have 17 victories between them. Racing Team Nederland driver Jan Lammers is celebrating his 24th Le Mans and the 30th anniversary of his win. The 60 teams are divided into four classes with 10 in LMP1, 20 in LMP2, 17 in LMGTE Pro and 13 in LMGTE Am.

Tomorrow at 16:00 it will be the cars’ turn to steal the show as they enter stage for the free practice session. Qualifying begins at 22:00. Teams use the sessions to make the last adjustments to the car, to get in some night-driving practice – especially for the rookies – and start to show their pace, although they still have Thursday’s qualifying sessions to bank a time.
Trackside, at 21:00, French group Arcadian will be providing the musical backdrop to the evening.
