Growing interest in the 2016 24 Hours Karting

The 31st edition of the 24 Hours Karting promises to mark a historic turning point in the world of endurance racing. Held on 17th and 18th September at the Le Mans Karting International Circuit, the event confirms the relevance of the direction taken by the ACO to develop the potential of the discipline, including attracting new renowned players from other countries.

The common will of the ACO and the CIK-FIA to internationalise the event gave birth to the new framework of the CIK-FIA Endurance Championship. The aim is to attract manufacturers and factory teams who have so far raced in international sprint, while giving the event an increased worldwide audience.

This collaboration has resulted in the application in Group 1 of the CIK-FIA regulations for the new OK category. Powerful and reliable, the recently homologated OK engines evidence a return to the Original Karting with their simplicity, conducive to attracting more participants. Some specific circumstances for the class have been developed.

The specialists of the 24 Hours Karting like RTKF, Kart Mag, Wintec and MGT will be joined for this 31th edition by teams who are more accustomed to the speed events, but are determined to meet the challenge of endurance with victory. More open than ever, the competition portends a struggle to record a name in the history of the 24 Hours Karting and win the CIK-FIA Endurance Championship.

Entries are open until August 29th, 2016 at midnight, but the limit of 40 teams may be reached before that fateful date. The complete rules of the competition are available for download below, as well as the registration form for Group 1, or contact the ACO or KMO (event co-organiser).
