Alpine returns to the top tier of endurance racing

With only a few days to go before the 88th 24 Hours of Le Mans, the future already looks bright, with French constructor Alpine entering the fray next season. More than forty years after its 1978 triumph at Le Mans, Alpine is back to contend with the Toyota, Glickenhaus and ByKolles hypercars already announced.

Pierre Fillon, president of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest: “Signatech Alpine is well-placed for a third class win in a row in LMP2 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend, so now is a good time to announce the constructor’s return to the top class for 2021. It’s wonderful news for our discipline to see this team join Toyota and soon Peugeot in the battle at the highest level of endurance racing.”

Technical regulations for LMP1 Non-Hybrids have been altered to permit fair competition with the Le Mans Hypercars next season.
