A new Green Ticket for the 24 Hours of Le Mans

The 24 Hours of Le Mans has always been at the forefront of innovation. As a firm advocate for sustainable mobility, the ACO is offering spectators coming to this year’s race (on 11-12 June 2022) an entertaining and engaging experience focused on sustainable development. Mindful of the climate emergency, the race organiser will be applying an ambitious carbon strategy, with a number of green initiatives on track – the introduction of a 100% renewable fuel – and trackside, with a new low-carbon admission ticket.

1/ The Green Ticket

For the first time in history, a motorsport event is encouraging spectators to choose a low-carbon form of transport to get to the race and rewarding racegoers who adopt more sustainable conduct. Hence, from Wednesday 8 June to Sunday 12 June, anyone with a General Enclosure, Grandstand or Campsite ticket can pick up their “Green Ticket” if they’re able to provide proof of the transport used to reach the circuit (tram or train ticket, registration document for an electric or hybrid car) at the Green Experience Kiosk located by the circuit’s East gate.

The Green Ticket comes with an array of benefits:

  • 20% off the full range of eco-friendly products in the Museum Shop.
  • Support for charity projects as part of the ACO’s CSR strategy (the ACO will €1 donate per spectator to a low-carbon project set up near the circuit).
  • A free 2022 Eco Cup

2/ The Green Zone

The Green Zone is located right in the heart of the circuit near the East gate and will give fans who choose soft mobility a glimpse of the future spectator experience: sustainable food options, waste reduction initiatives, several sustainable and inclusive projects and zero-emission energies (solar, hydrogen and networks). Just 20 minutes from the city centre and its  high-speed rail connection, the Green Zone is a unique visitor experience that reflects the ACO’s CSR ambitions.

3/ The Green Challenge

The ACO will also be giving fans the chance to get some first-hand experience of the future of endurance racing. The Green Challenge encourages racegoers to choose eco-friendly food options, low-carbon transport, charitable endeavours and other responsible initiatives, and includes around 15 missions in all. Those who achieve Finisher (5 “missions” completed), Podium (8 missions), Winner (10 missions) or Legend (all missions completed) status will be able to enter an extraordinary prize draw, with the lucky winner treated to a drive around the track in the hydrogen racing prototype developed by the ACO and GreenGT for MissionH24.
