24 Hours of Le Mans - The Le Mans Esports Series Super Final 14-15 June

A sim racing marathon for the Le Mans Esports Series final!

The Le Mans Esports Series kicked off at the 2018 6 Hours of Silverstone. Like endurance racing, the Series is extremely demanding but offers its own very special atmosphere. Gamers from the world over came head-to-head at six qualifying rounds, with some 20,000 players attempting to claim one of the 36 places in the first ever grand finale.

Just like the 24 Hours of Le Mans on-track, the 36 sim racing finalists have formed 12 driver crews of three. The Series was split into three regions - America, Asia, and Europe - and at each qualifying round, the winners from each region were put together to create a new team. The race organiser has also invited the best two teams in the championship plus two ‘wildcard’ entries to compete in the final. The 36-player grid for the Super Final, featuring some of the best sim-racers in the world, thus promises some thrilling sim racing action!

The field includes four French drivers who will be competing on home turf: Fabien Piffet (Williams Seven), a member of the Williams Esports team, the virtual equivalent of the famous Formula One outfit. Then Aurelien Mohammedi-Mallet (RBR Laige), Alexandre Arnou (Asix) and Christopher Cabrera (ESC Chris), who have formed an all-French crew. They are in with a serious chance of taking the title, thanks to the talent of RBR Laige who boasts a record seven French championship titles and three world championship crowns on Forza Motorsport!

The players will not be competing on the game, developed by Turn 10, for a full 24 hours. Instead, a brand new race format has been designed for them. There will be nine races in all, evoking the spirit of Le Mans and the different eras in the world’s greatest endurance race. A series of challenges that will require a clear strategy from the players. The final gets underway at 11:00 on Friday 14 June, with races continuing until 11:00 on Saturday.

Each team will start out with a virtual budget of €150 million to create their dream garage of seven cars. They will be able to choose from a wide selection of models from different eras. Five circuits will feature: Silverstone, Sebring, Spa-Francorchamps and the present-day 24 Hours of Le Mans track as well as its previous incarnation (without the chicanes on the Mulsanne Straight).
