2019 24 Hours of Le Mans : Fringe Events

  • 24H Golf

This 30-year-old event at the golf course at the Mulsanne Corner now takes place the weekend preceding the 24-hour race, marking the beginning of a fun-packed week of events around the circuit. Practice sessions kick off the festivities on the afternoon of 7 June. The competition begins in earnest on Saturday 8 June at 13:00 with 24 teams and a total 144 players out to show off their talent. Beginners’ lessons, demonstrations and other sideshows are also scheduled. The 24H Golf comes to an end on Sunday 9 June, as the drivers and cars of the 24 Hours of Le Mans step into the limelight with the first scrutineering session in the city centre. Friday 7, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June.   • Les R’Hunaudières

For the fifth edition of R’Hunaudières, organisers the Ruaudin twinning committee and town council are celebrating the fifties, plus Ferrari’s 1949 win, Aston Martin’s 1959 win and the 100th anniversary of Shell. Tuesday 11 June 2019, 16:00-23:00, Ruaudin sports centre. Free admission.
 

  • Neuville dans la course

The picturesque village of Neuville-sur-Sarthe provides the backdrop for an open-air cinema, with the screening of the official film of last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. Members of the ACO, Auto Passion 72 and the Lotus club will be displaying their classic cars at the venue. Ferrari Dino will be in attendance, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the famous Italian carmaker. Tuesday 11 June 2019 from 19:00, plage du Vieux Moulin. Food served. Free admission.
 

  • Arnage dans la course

For the sixth year running, Arnage dans la course is the place to be on the Thursday before the big race. This year, the theme is French elegance. Some 130 sports cars representing the whole spectrum of motorsport will be on display. Thursday 13 June 2019, 09:00 – 17:00, place François Mitterrand, Arnage. Free admission.
 

  • Classic British Welcome

A red-letter event for all Le Mans 24 Hours fans, the 19th annual Classic British Welcome in Saint-Saturnin will be paying tribute to distinctive British marque, Morgan. This year’s special guest is Jacques Nicolet, owner of Onroak Automotive. Friday 14 June 2019, 09:00 – 17:00, Saint-Saturnin. Free admission.
 

  • Le virage de Mulsanne

The emblematic Mulsanne Corner draws crowds throughout the race and, this year, the organisers of the 9th Virage de Mulsanne event welcome special guest Aston Martin Racing driver Maxime Martin. Aston Martin and Bentley are the focus of the event this year, at which Julien Canal of Panis Barthez Compétition will also be present. Former drivers Lionel Robert, Jacky Haran and the Ravenel brothers Jean-Louis, Jacky and Marc will be sharing their experience of the classic endurance race.
