This unique pavilion welcomes women in a privileged environment including spectators, drivers, women working for the teams and celebrities: they can all come along and meet up, chat and enjoy a break in this amazing pavilion with its zen ambience. BMW, the official partner of the Women’s Pavilion, will honour a woman this year. Aerobatics pilot Mélanie Astles is a lover of speed, an expert when it comes to concentration and proficiency at the controls of her plane, and five-time winner of the French championship. She is the first woman to have competed in the Red Bull Air Race and has been selected as the pavilion’s special guest.
In the spirit of Le Mans Passion Share, which is sharing experiences between exceptional sports, aerobatics and endurance racing have many points in common. For BMW this partnership with the Women’s Pavilion is another step in its relationship with the ACO before the German manufacturer’s return to the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2018 in the LM GTE Pro category.
Three large areas that have met with success since the creation of the pavilion in 2015 will again be installed:
- A beauty area: free hair-dressing, make-up, body and hand care with 24 beauticians and nine hairdressers from the Beauté Training School.
- A relaxation area: large sofas and armchairs in which to relax, chat corners for girls, and big screens to follow the race live.
- An exhibition area: the motor car will be at the heart of the Women’s Pavilion thanks to some marvellous photos of the 24 Hours including portraits of women and highlights of the greatest endurance race in the world. Mélanie Astles’ plane, an Extra 330 SC which flirts with 400 km/h in races, will be on show in the pavilion.
A beautiful garden covering 310m2 will be created and landscaped for everybody, in particular the men and families accompanying the women. People can have a laid-back break in this semi-private space or a photo shoot with the giant photo call in the Women’s Pavilion.
New in 2017 is the Oyster-Champagne bar installed by La Mer à Boire where tasting sessions will take place in peace and quiet, while Tamarindo smoothies will refresh the taste buds!
The Women’s Pavilion has become the most charming plus of the Le Mans 24 Hours, a real ritual for all the women who can go there for a moment’s peace in the heart of the mythical endurance race.
